Cumberland County Awarded Grants for Household Pollution Prevention, Vance Says

HARRISBURG – More than $33,400 in Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention grants recently were awarded to Cumberland County, said Sen. Patricia Vance (R-Cumberland/York).

"Since 1998 Cumberland County has offered its residents an opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste properly free of charge twice a year," Vance said. "These grants help continue these drop-off opportunities. The next one will be held Sept. 24 at Big Spring Middle School. I encourage anyone with household waste that they wish to get rid of to attend this event."

The two grants reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event.

Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
