FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Two Townships Awarded Sewage Facilities Grants, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – Almost $17,000 in Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grant recently were awarded to West Pennsboro and Warrington townships, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "It is vital to the health and safety of the community that sewer regulations are followed," Vance said. "This grant program helps cover some of the costs associated with enforcing the regulations thus protecting the environment for generations to come." Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants are used to reimburse 50 percent of eligible expenses for performing state sewage regulations. West Pennsboro Township received $14,469. Warrington Township was awarded $3,522. The state sewage regulations are outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537). This act was formed to correct existing sewage disposal problems and prevent future problems through proper planning of all types of sewage facilities and permitting of individual or community onlot disposable systems (OLDS), as well as uniform standards for designing OLDS. Vance’s district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
