Vance to Discuss Details of Opossum Lake Funding
WHAT: Sen. Pat Vance will announce details regarding the significant
funding she secured for repair of the dam at Opossum Lake in Lower Frankford
Township. The lake was lowered 14 feet in the fall of 2005 after leaks were
discovered in the dam's spillway.
WHO: Sen. Patricia Vance; Dr. Doug Austen, executive director of PA Fish
and Boat Commission; Rep. Will Gabig; Ed Franco, president of Friends of Opossum
Lake Conservancy; Cumberland County Commissioners and Lower Frankford Township
Supervisors.
WHEN: Saturday, February 9, 2008
TIME: 11 a.m.
WHERE: Main Parking area off of Opossum Lake Access Road. (If there is
inclement weather, please call 919-7615 for alternate location.) From the Square
in Carlisle, proceed west on West High Street. Turn right onto North Orange
Street and then make an almost immediate left onto Newville Road. Go a short
distance on Newville Road to McClures Gap Road. (It's right before Westminster
Cemetery.) Take a right onto McClures Gap Road. Follow that for several miles.
Turn left onto Campground Road. At the Y on Campground Road, bear right and this
road becomes Opossum Lake Road. You'll go about a mile on Opossum Lake Road, and
