FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Three Entities Receive Conservation Grants, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – Carlisle Borough, Fredricksen Library and Carroll Township recently were awarded a total of $638,000 in Conservation Works! Grants, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "Each of these recipients will conserve at least 25 percent of all energy used through energy efficient projects," Vance said. "With electricity rate caps coming off in January, it is important to increase energy efficiency to reduce bills. I commend these entities for seeking funding to move in this direction." The following were awarded grants:
The Conservation Works! Grants allow local government and non-profit entities to complete renewable energy conservation projects. Eligible projects include energy efficiency indoor and outdoor lighting, energy efficiency retrofits to existing buildings, energy efficiency upgrades to wastewater treatment plants, installation of geothermal heat pumps, premium efficiency motors and variable speed drives, and deployment of renewable energy technologies on government buildings including solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells, biomass, biogas and low-impact hydro. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County. |
