FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Four Cumberland County Government Entities Awarded Recycling Grants, Vance SaysHARRISBURG – Almost $700,000 in Recycling Development and Implementation Grants were recently awarded in Cumberland County, said Sen. Pat Vance (R-Cumberland/York). "By providing a variety of recycling opportunities, it is easier for residents to discard trash in a responsible way," Vance said. "While there is much focus on recycling of paper, aluminum and plastic, thousands of tons of leaves and other lawn waste can be recycled through composting to create valuable mulch to feed trees, plants and shrubs." This grant program reimburses counties and municipalities 90 percent of eligible recycling program development and implementation expenses. Priority for this funding round included incentive-based programs, alternative-fuel vehicles, multi-government projects and new fiber collection/processing programs. Vance's district includes all of Cumberland County and Carroll, Fairview, Franklin, Monaghan, Warrington and Washington townships and Dillsburg, Franklintown and Wellsville boroughs in York County.
