Highway Construction Updates
PennDOT 2007 Construction Program
Regional Transportation Plans A regional transportation plan, required under Federal law, anticipates the transportation needs of a region over at least 20 years. All projects approved for subsequent funding must be consistent with the long-range plan. The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) includes a prioritized list of projects recommended for implementation over a four-year period. The program is fiscally constrained to the amount of revenue that can reasonably be expected. Local, regional and state transportation officials help prioritize and select projects for the program. A project must appear on the TIP before it can receive Federal financial support. The TIP is regularly reviewed and updated.
